Smart Office Design

When office design is being spoken of, people tend to zero in mainly on the functionality. The file space is taken into consideration, where do you have to put the scanner, will the desk be good for a lefty or a righty, blah blah blah. Don’t get me wrong, they are all important factors of an office space.

Here’s the catch. You can always use your interior and aesthetic needs in the environment that you want to have in the future. The aesthetic aspect of the office is very very VERY important as well. It’s one of the main things that would make you feel great every time.

Full folds of fabric at the window may soothe a person, but it could be nails-on-a-chalkboard bad for another person. We all have our own unique preferences on everything from color to light to shape to texture to pattern and so on. Well certainly yes, even men.

Always be intelligent in choosing design. What you want to have is increased professional productivity, your work-life balance, your satisfaction while at work and your ability to focus, creativity as well as flow while doing what you have to do to get things done.

The human mind may be complex, but there’s always something we can do to simplify things. Functional work space will make you productive and comfortable at the same time. Don’t just dive into whatever you think would make your office look good though, you might lose some sizeable amount of money.

However, strive to strategically make your office a haven and then you could be one happy camper wherever your office may be. Be it in an astounding building, or inside your humble abode.

Environmental Office Design

Environmental sustainability is becoming an even more persistent issue in all facets of life, especially in architecture and design. Majority of modern designers want to come up with products with as little environmental impact as possible, involving those made from recycled materials and products that are highly energy efficient.

With the enthusiasm architects and engineers possess when it comes to coming up multiple solutions for critical problems, looking through the myriads of green products available for your office design can be a tad too overwhelming. Identifying which green practices are the most efficient, which will spare you moolah instead of create additional costs and which you can incorporate seamlessly into your current work practices can be a challenging task, especially when you come to working a number of different sustainability measures into one method for your office design.

The office design is the most ideal place to start in terms of building a comprehensive environmentally friendly strategy for your company. Old office buildings with old office designs often consume a disproportionate amount of energy and acknowledging this issue can be the most significant step in making your workplace more sustainable. Here are some further basic tips on improving the green status of your office design.

Recycled materials can be used to great effect throughout your office design. Many highly polished pieces of office furniture made from recycled metals, plastic and wood are available to suit the style of any office design. When you reuse materials in your office design, you prevent old products from going to waste in landfill and you get to dodge damaging the environment further for producing of new materials.

By coming up with a clever office design, one that particularly serves your company's needs, you are also bound to developing a green workplace. Custom-made office design that conserve space where deemed necessary and place resources appropriately are remarkably more environmentally friendly as compared to office designs that take a "one size fits all" approach to workstations and layouts.

Help! I need design advice for my home office.

Question by On a cloudy day: Help! I need design advice for my home office.
Okay, so i have a really boring cluttered home office and i really need help. It has white walls (blech) and a lot of black and dark cherry wood furniture. I really would like to keep with the cherry wood.

Unfortunately i have a bland, uncomfortable futon (blue "mattress" with black "supports") that i can't get rid of. I also cannot get rid of the large map of town and the large high school class pictures displayed on the wall. (though i would appreciate some help on how to display them, right now its pretty much one, then below, another...)

Anyone have any ideas for wall color ( i REALLY need help with that) and what i can do about the futon and what i should do about the wall displays and etc?

Right now my home office is very cold, bland and unattractive-looking. I really want to soften it up while keeping the pieces i already have (2 end tables, 2 desks, a book shelf, all in dark cherry wood. Also the futon, though it seriously needs help).

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Get a dark brown futon COVER for the futon, paint the walls crimson, get some vanilla votive and candles and put them in brushed metal, tall holders. Have fun!
