If it is a more expensive chair you could contact the manufacturer to see about replacing the gas strut. More than likely, it is time for a new chair.

All About Modular Office Furniture

Modular office furniture – what is it? The phrase is vague and even daunting at first. Most people, myself included, do not have a clue as to what it means. First thing that popped in my mind was an image of an office cubicle that each employee is assigned to brew in for the rest of the office hours. But what is modular office furniture, really? Would it matter if they were produces in a certain way? Or designed in a standardized manner? Would it affect sales? Would it affect productivity?

We shall define modular office furniture in this article. We shall shed some light in the topic in the hopes of opening the thoughts of people to endless possibilities. Modular office furniture when applied to your office environment shall open wonders.

The root word of modular is module which means a basic standard of measurement. When it is applied to furniture, it means that the construction method used to build the furniture is standardized. This gives rise to uniformity in the furniture but also flexibility in its uses.

Modular office furniture is mostly used exactly as stated in its name, in the office. But it is a given that not all offices are the same and each setting has its own different set of needs. But we agree that every office needs furniture that meets a specific requirement, be it a chair that should be this high and a table that should be this wide.

Modular office furniture albeit standardized serves us in our work and office environments making us more effective but keeping us relaxed, at the same time. We can redecorate our space, move furniture around, the chairs and tables and the shelves to create our ultimate workspaces for ourselves. This flexibility makes modular office furniture favorable and practical.

The Benefits of Quality Office Furniture

A company can have lots of transactions and purchases but one of the most important purchases in the early stages of its development is office furniture. We all know that an office can be the most stressful places one could ever find herself or himself in.  But purchasing the right furniture can give the staff of a company that much needed professional edge or advantage. Improved amenities can provide a boost in the productivity, efficiency and work ethics of those who work within it. When certain areas are organized and made comfortable, each and every employee will have the ample amount of work space that is vitally needed to maintain that much needed focus to do the required amount of work needed to be done. The following are the main areas of concern:

Increased efficiency:
Office furniture can provide a calming and comforting feeling for the entire work force.  Lots of desk space can give employees a whole lot of allow spaced for them to spread all those pesky paper works, giving them the chance to do things clearly and efficiently.

Maintaining the Right Image:
This is one major area of concern since any company will always show a pretty good façade to their clients should they come any time of any day for everyday of the week. Having a well-furnished office can really change the way your clients or visitors perception. This may be the defining factor that could close out a major deal and can further elevate the reputation of your organization. You just have to make sure that the image of your office caters to the company’s potential and perceived target clients.

If you can’t have the best of everything, make the best of everything that you have. Consider scratch and dent merchandise, yard sales, going out of business sales, and even building your own furniture.

Black Office Furniture

These days, the color black is extremely popular in the world of interior design. Such color could be used in both offices and homes. Nevertheless, some individuals might steer clear of the color black when choosing office furniture since they don't want to risk having rooms that look dark and dreary. What these people don't know is that there are better ways to use black furniture. If used properly, they give your office space a more stylish and modern feel to it.

Black office furniture could be utilized in practically any office style, but they work best with a contemporary, executive, or a minimalist style. The color black can give a darker effects or a smaller illusion to the look or an office space. That said, it is wise if you start with having walls that have neutral color. This also makes any black office furniture stand out. See to it that you take advantage of the natural light. Let as much as light in as possible through the adjoining rooms and the windows.

Black office furniture now comes in many different materials, thus making them ideal for different budgets and styles. Black storage units and desks are available in glossy or matte finish. Other materials that come in color black include glass, such as black glass cabinets and desks, black glass doors, as well as upholstery fabrics or leather materials used in sofas and black computer chairs.

If you want to have black office furniture but you want the characteristics that wood furniture offers, then a dark wood such as wengue, it has similar effects.

Incorporating the color black into your workplace might intimidate you, but play around it and you are bound to have a very sophisticated office.

Can a UPS designed for a home office work for a residential garage door opener?

Question by questionmarkinthedark: Can a UPS designed for a home office work for a residential garage door opener?

The only door to my garage is the one opened by the garage opener. I want to store my earthquake supplies in there, but if the power is out, I won't be able to open the door to get inside the garage. The garage door opener manufacturer does not offer a battery back-up option. If I can open the door from the outside just once, then I could pull the emergency release and open/close the door by hand. It's getting in the garage the first time when the power is out that's the problem.

Best answer:

Answer by Chris S

Two options. First, you can have a vault release installed in your door. It's a keylock that enables you to disengage the door from the opener in the event of a power outage. Any garage door company should be able to help you.

Second, you can replace the opener with one that has a battery back up. Chamberlain makes a good one (also branded as Sears and Liftmaster) that uses a DC motor, and has a built-in battery backup that will run the door for at least 24 hours.

Is a good quality leather desk chair a good investment/piece of furniture to buy to upgrade my office area?

Question by : Is a good quality leather desk chair a good investment/piece of furniture to buy to upgrade my office area?
I want to buy a nice leather desk chair for my office area. Is it really worth it to spend over $100 for one?

Best answer:

Answer by Dennis Show

You can find chairs that are in the $100 dollar range that are comfortable to sit in. I could never justify spending $800 on the herman miller chair, even though it is the most popular chair. (Pretty sure its on GSA contract for government employees now everyone is getting them)

Leather is the professional look but if its a home office where you aren't meeting with clients/customers go for comfort. Something that promotes good posture but doesn't feel like you're sitting on a rock. Mesh back chairs in my opinion are the most comfortable but tend to run a bit higher price.

Some features to look for are:

Pneumatic seat height adjustment
360° Swivel
Seat glide mechanism
Tilt Tension
Tilt lock
Synchro-tilt
Adjustable arm height

Hope this helps!
